Top Donald Trump Quotes

Whether you like him or not, Donald Trump is a lightning rod of media attention. Some of the things he says will rally support, create discomfort, and sometimes just leave everyone scratching their heads. Today, we will look at some of the most intriguing words spoken by the multimillionaire presidential candidate.

“We will build a wall… a magnificent wall… and Mexico will pay for it.

We will start off with the quote that Trump says at nearly every rally. This is in reference to building a wall at the southern United States boarder to keep illegal immigrants out of America. Trump has used this to rally many conservative Americans that believe illegal immigrants are leaching off of the government and stealing jobs from working class citizens. Perhaps the biggest question of this quote is how is America going to make Mexico pay for the wall?

“Make America Great Again”

Trump has chosen this saying as the slogan for his presidential campaign. He uses this to appeal to those who long for the days where America was unquestionably the greatest country in the world. The Trump campaign has published this slogan on hats, t-shirts, and posters.

“Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.”

-Charleston, South Carolina rally speech in December 2015

First Amendment rights beware! These words spoken in first person by the Republican presidential nominee were in response to the growing ISIS threat here in the United States. Trump claimed that the best way to keep ISIS out is to keep the Islamic religion out as well.

“Look at that face. Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that… the face of our next president?”

-Interview with the Rolling Stone in September 2015

This quote was in response to a question on former presidential nominee Carly Fiorina. It helped build Trump’s reputation that he is a political bully and will speak his mind regardless or social norms.

“Heidi Klum. Sadly, she is no longer a ten.”

-August 2015 New York Times interview

Donald Trump is often accused of being sexist and dehumanizing women. He did not help his perception in August 2015 when he made these remarks about the America’s Got Talent judge and superstar model.

“[John McCain] is not a war hero. He is a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

-Ames, Iowa speech in July 2015

One of the toughest challenges that awaits Trump is the issue over uniting the Republican Party. Republicans fear that they will lose the general election if the “establishment” does not rally behind the nominee. Despite this, Trump went out of his way to poke fun of a former Republican presidential nominee and war veteran.

“I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”

-2006 appearance on The View

Once again, Trump will say what is on his mind, regardless of the social norms. Most people read these words and ask “Trump, what were you thinking?”
